ARM STRENGTH IS NOT ALWAYS ABOUT THE ARMS!

Where does Arm strength come from? From the Back!The primary goal when training the body is executing the exercise in a correct order and from the correct origin. The "Powerhosue" is hugely made up of our back muscles and often missed in workouts.Rock climbers scale vertical walls, not from having mostly strong arm strength, but from having extreme muscular back strength- this is the goal when teaching Pilates to clients! There is definitely a chain of command with the upper body. We mostly find that shoulders, chest, and biceps over compensate becoming overly conditioned and dominate. This is not correct and will only lead to injury.Paying attention to the order in which our muscles fire will bring true strength, precision, concentration, and control to upper performing upper body exercises. It will also help to change the conditioning of the whole body.For Men this leads to increased upper body strength! Women it typically helps lean out bulk developed in the arms and turns back flab into sexy definition.
